July 2014 Corvette of the Month

Paul Regnier's 2001 Torch Red Z06

Paul Regnier
2001, ZO6, Torch Red
Is this your first Corvette? If not, list previous years, styles, and colors: Yes!!
What first attracted you to Corvettes? When was that or how old were you?Ron Farnetti! Also, I used to have great difficulty beating a '57 "fuelie" Corvette back in '58 with my '55 Chevy racer. My '55 was quick in its day.
How did you come to acquire this Corvette? I went to the '02 H. A. N. auction and bid on two Corvettes but lost. So...I bought this one from a private party. My wife called the day after I had made the agreement with the seller and said, " buying it would be a big mistake". I told her, "too late!" She said, "it was a wedge in our marriage". I told her it was a beautiful wedge!!! The rest is history.
What modifications, if any, have you done to this car? Breather kit, Short shift and Borla's.
What modifications, if any, do you have planned for this car? Possibly a "Voodoo" cam installed by BMR, Bill Mc Anally Racing. I like idles and throttle response!
What do you like best about Corvettes? Corvette is that first "TRUE" All American car since Henry Ford's original All black, all American mass production car.
How long have you been members of RCCC? 4 years
What offices have you held or runs you've put on? None, to date! I was an officer in the Reno Corvettes.
What do you like about RCCC? RCCC is a great BIG caring family!
What other interesting facts might others enjoy knowing about you? My first Corvette trip was with Ron Farnetti back around 1963. I am, also, astounded when I am driving faster than 160 with one hand on the wheel and the other on the stick. You would think I have control issues?
Originally, I read an issue of Car & Driver about the '01 ZO6 being tested in both USA and Europe. Nothing could beat the 'Vette, especially at the gas pump. The name of that article was, "BIG RED". I tried to get that for my license in Nevada. I tried every variation; Big Red, Big Red 1, 2 etc. They were all taken! I just had to find out by who?? Those plates were owned be a string of Whore Houses. Oh well, I still love my little beauty!
SAVE THE WAVE!
