January 2012 Corvette of the Month

Rick and Marge Sutter

Corvette: 2007 C6 Monterey Metallic Red Coupe

Is this your first Corvette? If not, list previous years, styles, and colors:
This is our first Corvette.

What first attracted you to Corvettes? When was that or how old were you?
I first fell in love with a 1969 Corvette in 1969 when I was 17 and it took me 47 longs years before I realized my dream.

How did you come to acquire this Corvette?
When I finally decided to purchase my first Corvette in 2006, Marge told me that since I had wanted a Corvette for so long just get what I wanted. I asked her what color she liked and she said a blue toned red (not orange toned). She then went to Raley’s and when she came back in 30 minutes I told her I had found one and it was ours within two hours.

What modifications, if any, have you done to this car?
Corsa sport mufflers, back exhaust plate and grill.

What modifications, if any, do you have planned for this car? None.

What do you like best about Corvettes?
First and foremost it was responsible for Marge and I joining the River City Corvette Club. And last but by all means not least, the Corvette looks great and is fun to drive.

How long have you been members of RCCC? Five Years.

What offices have you held or runs you've put on?
President - 2010, Vice President – 2009, Treasurer – 2007 & 08.
We co sponsor the Rouge River, Sutter/Qiugg and Fort Bragg runs each year.

What do you like about RCCC?
The many friendships we have made with club members over the past five years, plus we have made friends with members of other clubs. We enjoy the runs and camaraderie with our fellow members at the club and on runs and events.

What other interesting facts might others enjoy knowing about you?
I am retired from 42 years as a lender in the banking industry, ending up in Corporate Banking at Union Bank. Marge is also retired after 20+ years as a Property Manager. We have four wonderful Grandkids and one Great Granddaughter.
We decided to have our picture taken at Sutter’s Fort as Rick’s Grandfather was born in Bescancon, France in 1885 and is a direct descendent of John Augustas Sutter. On a different note, Rick’s grandfather came to the USA with his father at the age of three and they lived with his Aunt, Lena Sutter Lowenberg, who founded Sutter Hone Winery in St. Helena in the Napa Valley in the early 1900’s.
