June 2012 Corvette of the Month

Keith and Helen Little

2004 Coupe, Torch Red

Is this your first Corvette? It is our first and we love it.

What first attracted you to Corvettes?
In 1958 my brother-in-law bought and drove a 1958 Corvette and my wife drove it to high school almost every day while he was at work. I was dating my wife at the time. She was was 16 and I was 17-18. Since then I always wanted one. However, married at the age of 20 and raising a family, other things always took precedence.

How did you come to acquire this Corvette?
Since I have always wanted one, it was on my bucket list, I started looking in early 2011. My search mainly consisted of going on line and using Craigslist. I was looking for a C-5 and the more I got acquainted I zeroed in on the 2003, being the 50th Anniversary of the Corvette. I thought that being appropriate since Helen and I just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in June of 2010. My search took a while to find the right one (color and all), finally located this one in Manteca, CA. It had 21,678 miles on it and it was fully loaded. It had everything I was looking for so I could not walkaway from it. After buying the car we ordered the special license plate "R 50th" .

What modifications, if any, have you done to this car?
ZWe only added the CB antenna. We want to keep it stock.

What modifications, if any, do you have planned for this car?

What do you like best about Corvettes?
Driving it. The response is amazing. Never driven anything like it before.

How long have you been members of RCCC?
We submitted our membership application on July 7, 2011.

What offices have you held or runs you've put on?
None as yet.

What do you like about RCCC?
The people. Everyone seems so friendly and members of a large family. After Helen's fall in September, breaking her neck, there was such an outpouring of calls, cards and flowers it was overwhelming.

I retired after 40 years of work in 1998 from San Diego Gas & Electric as manager of the Real Estate Department. Helen retired in 2004 from her own business of a property management company.
I use to do a lot of boating, fishing and hiking throughout the Serra's and Baja Mexico but due to age and my interest in the corvette we now really enjoy participating in the RCCC activities as much as we can. Our recent run to Simi Valley for the Presidential Tour was just outstanding.
Married 52 years this June 25th., Have two sons, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Plus our 11 year old dog "Scruffy" (5 pound Yorkie ).
Being retired everyday is a vacation for us.
