June 2009 Corvette of the Month

Chuck and Joyce Sathre's 2003 Torch Red Coupe

Names: Chuck and Joyce Sathre

Corvettes:  2003 6-speed Coupe, Torch Red

Previous Corvettes: This is our 3rd Corvette, we started with a 72 T-top, Targa Blue, 454 cubic inch, 3 2-barrels carburetors, a cam, headers, tubo mufflers. This car was a fixer and came in many boxes and had the chassis/body came over on a flat bed truck. Chuck assembled the whole car, did the body work and painted it himself. Our second corvette was a 92 coupe, torch red. And our current car is 2003 coupe, torch red.

What first attracted you to corvettes? I have always loved Corvettes, probably started around the time that Route 66 was on TV. They are definitely an eye catcher on the road.

How did you come to acquire this one? This was a birthday present for Joyce from her favorite husband.

What modifications were done to this car? The only modifications that we have done was to paint the word "Corvette" in yellow.

What modifications are planned for this car? None.

What do you like best about corvettes? We like the style and performance.

How long have you been members of RCC? We have been members since 1994.

What offices have you held or runs you've put on? Chuck served as treasure for a couple of terms. Joyce served as phone tree coordinator for a couple of terms. We currently sponsor the annual Bunko night, and we have also sponsored a few San Simeon runs, a poker run, and our up coming Mystery run.

What do you like about RCC? We have met some great people and have develped close friendships with many. We have also enjoyed the many activities that the club has sponsered. Life can't get better!

What other interesting facts might others enjoy knowing about you? We have built a number of houses as owner/builder and have a number of rentals that keep us busy. We are interested in antique clocks, Disneyana and like to vacation in Maui, Mexico and Nevada....
