Gaylord and Kelly Barrington – 1992 White LT1 Coupe

Name: Gaylord and Kelly Barrington

Current Corvette: 1992 White LT1 Coupe

Previous Corvettes: We are Corvette virgins.

What first attracted you to Corvettes? When was that or how old were you?  Kelly dated a couple of guys in college in the 60's, and of course, there was "Route 66". Think mini skirts and sports cars! The real determining factor, was when Kerry and Kathy bought theirs. We do everything together, so there you are. We had to have one like theirs.

How did you come to acquire this Corvette? Private party.

What modifications have you done to this car?  The transmission completely rebuilt, put in shift kit, new stainless exhaust system, custom air intake , changed the throttle body, new air foil. Added a CB.

Modifications Planned: Black graphics.

What do you like best about Corvettes? What's not to like? They're fast, and they're beautiful, and fun to drive!

How long have you been a member of RCC? 2 years this summer

What offices have you held or runs you've put on? We are putting on the Santa Barbara run in Sept. We had the 1st annual post-Labor Day BBQ. Kelly is putting on a Amador wine tasting run with Charity and Dodie in the spring. We will host the post Labor Day party in Sept. as well. We were very involved with Orange County Forties Limited, and Seal Beach Bay City Rodders when we lived in SoCal.

What do you like about RCC?  Great people, great fun, great wine, great parties. Everyone is friendly.

What other interesting facts might others enjoy knowing about you? We have 3 classic cars as well, a '31 Ford roadster, a '39 Ford 2 door delux sedan, and a '63 Studebaker Avanti. Gaylord mines for gold, and is an artist. He loves building things in his shop. Kelly loves gourmet cooking, singing, dancing (in case no one has noticed) and playing the piano. We love to travel and meet people from around the world. Finding great wines is a passion.
We have 4 kids, and three granddaughters. Getting together with family is one of our favorite things to do.
Gaylord, is a retired captain from the Long Beach Fire Dept. Kelly, is a retired teacher from Bellflower USD. After retiring in '94, we spent 10 years dividing our time between a log home on the Clearwater River, in Idaho, and a home in Kona, Hawaii.
