November 2008 Corvette of the Month

Jim & Marilyn Tomasello - 2003 Torch Red Coupe

Name: Jim and Marilyn Tomasello

Current Corvette: 2003 Torch Red Coupe

Previous Corvettes: Yes, this is our first Corvette.

What first attracted you to Corvettes? When was that or how old were you? I think Jim was more attracted to corvettes first and probably years ago when one of his best friends owned a 1958 red and white convertible. Jim really started getting interested more when he turned around 55! Of course I was attracted to the beauty, how fast it was and what fun to drive!! It was always easy for me to blame our purchase on Jim! (midlife crisis, red corvette!)

How did you come to acquire this Corvette? We started looking on line in 2003 and came across car max in Roseville. There were many available at good prices, but this one we had shipped from Chicago and it had only 600 miles on it and was a 50th anniversary. We loved it!
What modifications have you done to this car? We haven't done any modifications yet.

Modifications Planned: Of course we still plan on getting our new chrome wheels, and Marilyn would like a few light ghost flames. (maybe)

What do you like best about Corvettes? We love the beauty, speed and how great they handle!

How long have you been a member of RCC? We joined the club in 2004

What offices have you held or runs you've put on? We have been volunteers, but held no offices or put on any runs to date.

What do you like about RCC? The members! We enjoy everyone and enjoy the gatherings that we can attend when possible..

What other interesting facts might others enjoy knowing about you? Jim and I are both retired and have been since 2001. We love to travel and go as much as possible. Jim loves to play Texas Hold'em and it is his hobby along with part time real estate. Marilyn loves to spend quality time with her grandson Braeden, and soon to be granddaughter in Jan. Cruising is a favorite of ours and we hope to be in St. Thomas this year for Thanksgiving!
