December 2006 Corvette of the Month

Hollis and Lisa McNatt's 2004 Spiral Grey Coupe

Name: Hollis and Lisa McNatt

Current Corvettes: 2004 Spiral Grey Coupe

Previous Corvettes: 1970 Grey Coupe purchased used in 1988 and sold in 1999. 1969 Green Roadster with a small block, purchased as a basket case in 1989, which is currently under construction. When finished it will be some shade of red with a big block, nothing stock.

What first attracted you to Corvettes? When was that or how old were you? We have been attracted to Corvettes as far back as we can remember.

How did you come to acquire this Corvette? Long story – We were coming home from the Home and Garden Show at Cal Expo and Lisa wanted to drive down Fulton Avenue and look at the corvettes. I humored her and just drove right past without even stopping. So when we got up to Roseville we cruised the Auto Mall. We parked right next to a shiny new spiral gray corvette and the older salesman would not even give us the time of day. I guess we didn't look the type! So needless to say…we looked around and another salesman came up to us and offered that we drive the one on display. It had just arrived and been detailed out for the showroom floor. Lisa finally convinced me to take it for a drive and well…what can we say. The look on the older salesman later than evening when we drove it away was something. I guess you could say we were the type!
What modifications have you done to this car? Plug-ins only! When we go on a run we plug-in the I-pod, the CB, the Valentine and now the Magellan! That's about all we have plugs for.

Modifications Planned: None, for now – we like it just the way it is.

What do you like best about Corvettes? It's sleek and sexy look. It has just a strong unexplainable attraction. All corvette owners know what I am talking about.

How long have you been a member of RCC? We joined the club in February 2004.

What offices have you held or runs you've put on? Co-hosted with the Hinchman's; the "Great Fall Race" of 2006. Lisa has been on the call around group now for two years. We have helped with a few of the events…Valentines Dance and Crab Feed.

What do you like about RCC? We just really enjoy the people; new friends and just getting together to enjoy each others companionship and laughter. There is always something to get excited about whether it is a run out of town or just a get together for dinner. After putting on the Great Fall Race we can understand better the dedication and commitment to putting on a good run. One that is informative (so you know where you are going and what is planned for your entertainment) as well as a great destination. There is a lot of time and decisions to be made to make it successful. We thank each and everyone who has undertaken this job. It is what makes this club great!

Other Interesting Facts: Hollis is the Manager at Capitol Clutch and Brake in West Sacramento. He has been there for 31 years and counting! Lisa is a stay at home Mom who loves to cook and garden. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We have a golden retriever named Alexandra who is a great companion for us. We have two almost grown children. Jeremy is 24; a brother in Delta Chi Fraternity and a senior at UNLV majoring in Accounting. Lindsay is 21. Just recently she has left us empty nesters. She has a minor in Marketing from Sierra College and is now a junior at UNLV majoring in Hospitality Management. Jeremy will graduate in the spring and hopefully….be off the payroll and on his own! We are keeping our fingers crossed! The kids live together with their dog Penny. We are reminded from time to time; what happens in Vegas …stays in Vegas! I guess it is good we don't know everything.
